Our Troop is preparing for another busy year. Our troop will have a good mix of the three levels and will be able to break out into small groups to gear learning more towards individual levels.
Daisies will continie to learn the law through our Daisy petal Program. Along with some of our STEM badges and possibly a journey. Brownies will work on badges that they have asked to work on through the activities they requested to do. Juniors will work on badges at meetings and start to work individually through guided activities. They will be taking on more leadership roles and will be planning funraisers for the troop that will be in the form of fun events for other scouts. These programs are based off of our girl scouts progression charts. We look forward to another exciting new year and allowing our girls to learn and grow while continuing to create a lasting friendships.

Our girls started our year meeting and learning about each other. We started working on Camping badges while we enjoyed some of the warmer weather that the fall has been offering us this year. We can't wait to use our new skills during our camping trips in the spring/summers.
We are looking forward to our bridging ceremony during November and have been participating in Fall Sales Fundraising. Preparing for a new Scouting year over the last few months. As the troop leader I have missed our troop meetings. My daughter has missed seeing her scouting friends. I spent the summer relaxing and pre planning out the new way of scouting we will be enjoying this year. As well as training and meetings to stay updated.
We will be offering virtual and in person meetings and looking for more parent volunteers to assist as our troop navigates the next scouting year. We will be taking extra safety measures for Fall Product Sales and Cookies Sales this year. Scouting will look different but the focus will remain the same. Helping girls grow and learn, while having fun through S.T.E.M. As well as building life long friendships. To kick this off we have a parent information meeting on Wednesday, September 30th. See the flyer for more information. Looking Forward to a New Scouting Year. Our Troop is growing. We are learning and growing. Next school year and scouting year will look different then it has in the past. In these uncertain times we are adapting and changing as we go. We are growing stronger. Next scouting year we will be adding new Daisies, bridging New Brownies, and adding and Bridging Junior Girl Scouts. Our troop will go from being K-3 to being K-5. We are so blessed to be able to offer scouting to our local area girls. We have girls from two local elementary schools and we are creating life long friendships
We started off March with lots of meetings and cookies booths. We were going strong with our booths and learning many new things. We set a goal of 1500 cookies and we meet that goal just before the cookie season came to a halt. we were set up to reach our stretch goal and that was our new goal.
We didn't get to meet that goal, however we did sell 1, 605 boxes and the extra 72 boxes that we had left from the excess booths we will be donating as soon as we safely can. While our year ended sooner then expected we have been meeting online as a troop and our Daisies are still working on their petals as they are able to and our Brownies are working on their badges. As our leaders navigate the new "scouting" way for now we are all looking forward to the day we can physically see each other again. Until then we will scout on and continue to connect virtually as we can. February has come and gone so quickly that it was like a blink of an eye. I am so proud of our girls. I have really watched them grow and learn. They have become friends and are breaking troop records.
We spent February working on the Lupe/ Sunny Petals for our Daisies and Making Friends badge for oyr Brownies. Our troop continues to grow and push ourselves to each thise goals. We have done initial cookie sales, delivered our cookies to customers, run cookie booths, and worked on our 5 life skills that Cookie sales teaches us. We even delivered cookies to a orthodonist for our local first responders. we set a troop goal of 1,500 cookies boxes. Our stretch goal is 2,000 boxes. We plan to go to Sealife Aquarium, Legoland, and Ann Arbor Hands on Muesum with our money. Also, did you know our troop leader is going to let us throw pies in her face for every 25 boxes over 100 each scout sells. If we reach 100 boxes as a scout we get to have pizzia with our leaders. If we reach 150 boxes as a scout we get to have our own top seller cookie party with our leaders. To end our busy month on Leap Day, we participated in our very first Girl Powered Derby Race. It was super fun and we got to participate in our first troop swap event. We are looking forward to alot more cool adventures. Making friends and life long memories. We started out the New Year of 2020 with a meeting over Winter Break. We got to Taste Test the Girl Scout Cookies. All of them!! Including the NEW Lemon Up Cookies. They are our Troop Leaders New favorite, right behind the S'mores Cookies.
Our overall troop Favorite seems to be between Thin Mints and Samoas. We opted to attend a Daddy Daughter Dance that was being hosted by our school in place of a troop meeting. We then started work on our Daisy petals as we have several new daisies that joined our troop this year. We will focus on our daisy petals and finance leaves for the remainder of the school year. Cookie Booths start next month! Wish us luck we have some big goals and want to complete another service project in the spring. As we wrap up the 2019 year, we finished working on our Think Like an Engineer and Cyber security Badges. We had so much fun learning S.T.E.M. We built marshmallow catapults that had us so engaged that we forgot about snack time. We also worked independently to watch the Thanksgiving parade to earn our Thanksgiving fun patch.
We collected donations for a dog shelter and delivered them to a drop off site that was local to us. December we had a snowman painting party and walked in our local Cool Yule Parade with our local sister scouts. We love learning new things and focus on having fun while learning. We also had a parent only cookie meeting, so we could starting earning our Financial leaves and badges next year. We wrapped the year up by starting to work independently on our My Faith My Promise pins, The New Cookie Pins Year 1, and our Winter Get Outdoors Challenge. We are looking forward to a fun filled 2020 with lots of new learning experiences and much more troop bonding. As we wrap up October and get ready to start a new month. We look back on all the things we accomplished.
In October we welcomed back three returning scouts and 4 new scouts in a bridging/investiture/rededication ceremony. We got our new uniforms and sold Fall Product for the first time. we earned two badges, a fun patch and our nee daisies earned their promise circle. The girls voted on their next badge/journey and voted on our service project. looking forward, our troop is still growing and we are looking forward to welcoming new scouys intho our troop and working on building our Courage, Confidence, and Character. As well as learning about each other and building our friendships. As we move from Daisies to a mix of Daisies and Brownies we will continue to focus on learning the Girl Scout way in a safe and fun learning environment.
We will en-corporate more hands on and S.T.E.A.M components into our meetings. We want to do lots of fun and learning events that will include all girls at every grade level. Some events may need to be paid for by parents if our fundraising goals are not met. We encourage all girls to participate in all our events, but we understand that schedules change and things come up. Your daughter will reap the benefits of friendship, learning, and growing in our troop and we look forward to another wonderful year with our scouts. |
AuthorHi, I am Amy and I am the Troop Leader for Troop 76961. I started this page as a way to help families in our community learn quickly how they can join girl scouts in our area. I was not given the opportunity to be a girl scout as a child and I decided to lead my daughters troop to make sure that she and her friends had a troop at our school that would work for them. I am enjoying being the troop leader and I glad I finally get to be a girl scout with my daughter. 2024 marks the start of my 7th year leading our troop on fun adventures. Archives
